My Top 10 Books as Defined by Tarot

A reader lives

a thousand lives

before he dies.

The man who

never reads

lives only one.

George R.R. Martin

And a thousand places I have been, with a thousand more places will I go.

If all else must be taken from me, I ask but one thing, a place to read. If there is a heaven, or even a hell, may it be filled with rows upon rows of books, so that my gypsy soul can forever be free.

This is such a great challenge, connecting a Tarot card to a top ten of my favourite books. I've ranked them from 10 to 1, with 1 being my favourite.

10. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton ~ The 4 of Swords

9. The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck ~ 5 of Pentacles

8. Rush Home Road by Lori Larsens ~ 3 of Swords

7. The Witching Hour by Anne Rice ~ The Devil

6. Memory, Sorrow and Thorns by Tad Williams -

The Suit of Wands, Page, Knight and King

5. Romeo and Juliette by Shakespeare ~ The Lovers

4. Roots by Alex Haley ~ The Hanged Man

3. Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien ~

The Tower

2. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett ~

The Empress

1. Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley ~

The High Priestess

Do you see any of my picks on your bookshelf? What cards do they pair up with?

Something I'd like to do in the future, is create a reading based on a book. What a great way to connect with the energy of a story!

Finding Duende,

Amanda
